Spring/Summer Season Inhouse Productions Announced at Theatre N16

Your Ever Loving: April 18th – May 5th, 2016

The Killing of Charles Bravo: May 16th – May 18th, 2016

Gertrude: June 12th – June 30th, 2016

This Spring/Summer, Theatre N16 will be producing 3 inhouse productions: in April, artistic director Jamie Eastlake will be directing Martin McNamara’s new drama about the Guildford Four Your Ever Loving, followed in May by The Killing of Charles Bravo, an exclusive site-specific performance about a real-life murder that happened in Balham, where the theatre is based. Finally, in June, Chris Hislop will be directing a new production of Howard Barker’s Gertrude, co-produced by LWL Investments and Entertainment Ltd.

1976. Guildford. 2 bombs. Forget Making a Murderer – what about the miscarriages of justice in our own system? When IRA pub bombs in Guildford and Woolwich murdered seven people and shocked the nation, Paul Hill and three others were charged, based solely on the confessions extracted during their violent, intimidating and threatening interrogations. It would take 15 long years of campaigning before the Four were exonerated and their convictions quashed. Your Ever Loving is written by Martin McNamara, a London writer and freelance journalist and radio producer, and directed by Theatre N16 artistic director Jamie Eastlake.

Howard Barker’s shocking and risqué take on Hamlet has its first major London revival at Theatre N16 this summer since its premiere in 2002. Reinterpreting Shakespeare’s classic from the perspective of Hamlet’s mother, this is a striking exploration of female sexuality and emancipation – but also a punky, filthy analysis of lust. Gertrude will be directed by Chris Hislop, Theatre N16 press manager and renowned London theatre publicist, returning to his directing roots after a 3 year hiatus. Co-produced by LWL Investments and Entertainment Ltd.

In 1876, a lawyer named Charles Bravo was murdered using the most devastating of poisons. To this day, no one knows the real murderer, despite the court case that took place at the Bedford Arms, where Theatre N16 now resides. Wander the corridors and explore the historical rooms of our pub and discover what could have happened over 100 years ago. Co-produced by Twenty Seven Live Ltd.

Theatre N16 is a trailblazing company that wants to change the face of the theatre industry. No matter how little money a production has behind it, if it has potential and that spark of innovation, they want to know. Theatre N16 is proud of their commitment to the welfare of creatives, operating without a hire fee for external companies. This promoting and nurturing of talent means that Theatre N16 is a bastion for the arts, making theatre accessible and affordable for audiences and in turn allowing artists to survive financially.
